straw bale cold frame

We are trying out a winter garden this year. This cold frame was put together with 6 bales of straw and four repurposed windows. I've started some arugula, cabbage, and mustard greens in this little garden; there is also a squash in the corner that was growing right in the spot that I wanted to put the straw bale garden and I could not bring myself to dig it up. I'm hoping that we'll be picking fresh green vegetables when it is cold outside

  2. This looks like a neat idea. Montie's daughter grows gardens in the summer in straw bales, but it makes sense to use them in the winter for their insulating properties. Good luck!
